Booth Ready · for narrators
Auditioning on ACX? Get the production script free.
Send the excerpt you're auditioning with. Within forty-eight hours you'll receive a full Booth Ready production script — color-coded by speaker, every paragraph hand-attributed, every tricky name pronounced once in narration only. No charge. No obligation. Strengthen your audition submission and walk in already prepped.
Why a Booth Ready script strengthens your audition
Read clean on the first take. Submit with the prep already shown.
Most ACX auditions live or die on the read — but the read is only as good as the prep behind it. Booth Ready gives you the prep, free, before you record.
Attribution settled before you hit record
Every paragraph is pre-attributed to a named speaker by close reading. No mid-take pauses while you figure out who's talking. You step in already knowing the voice each line belongs to.
Pronunciation locked in
Tricky names, dialect, period vocabulary — given once per first occurrence, in narration only, never inside dialogue where it would break your read. No on-the-fly guessing in front of the mic.
Color-coded by speaker
Voices pop visually on the page so you can plan vocal differentiation before the take. Send the script along with your audition and the rights holder sees prep-quality work, not a hopeful guess.
Stronger audition submission
When you attach the Booth Ready script to your ACX submission, the author sees a narrator who came in prepared. That signal alone moves you up the shortlist before anyone hits play.
How it works
Three steps. Forty-eight hours.
Send the excerpt
Drop in the ACX listing URL and the audition excerpt — pasted text, PDF, or DOCX. Add any character notes you already have.
Receive the script
Within forty-eight hours you'll get back a Booth Ready DOCX and PDF — color-coded, attributed, pronounced — built specifically for your audition.
Audition with the edge
Record with the prepped script in the booth. Submit the audio plus the script in your ACX message. The author sees the production quality before you ever speak.
The promise
No catch. Here's what this is — and isn't.
Plainly stated
The script is free. No upfront fee, no contract, no obligation to hire Booth Ready if you win the gig. You can keep the script, use it however you like, refer the author to whoever you want, or do nothing at all.
- Free Booth Ready script for the audition excerpt — DOCX and PDF.
- Forty-eight hours from request to delivery.
- No card on file, no upsell calls, no follow-up sales pressure.
- Mike does the work himself. Hand-attributed paragraph by paragraph. No AI guessing.
What Mike asks in return, quietly: if you win the gig and the rights holder needs a production-script service, mention Booth Ready exists. That's it. Goodwill, not a contract.

Common questions
What narrators ask before sending in.
Is this really free? What does Mike get out of it?
The script is genuinely free. Mike gets two things — both indirect. First, every script he delivers to a working narrator is a piece of marketing for Booth Ready that lands directly in the hands of an author casting an audiobook. Second, narrators who get value from the free sample sometimes refer rights holders his way when a production script would help. No contract, no expectation, just goodwill.
What if I don't win the audition?
Keep the script. It's yours. No bill arrives, no follow-up sales pressure. Use it as a sample of how you work, send it to another author, or file it for later. Mike's bet is on long-term goodwill across the narrator community, not on any single audition outcome.
How long do you actually need? Can I submit a 10-page excerpt?
Standard ACX audition excerpts run two to five pages — that's well inside the forty-eight-hour window. Longer excerpts (full chapter, 5,000+ words) may need an extra day; Mike will email you back with a realistic delivery time before starting if that's the case.
Can I share the script with the author when I submit my audition?
Yes — that's the point. Sending the Booth Ready script alongside your audio shows the author you came prepared and gives them a tangible preview of the kind of production quality available for the full book. Just don't republish or post it publicly without the author's permission.
What if I want a Booth Ready script for a book I've already booked?
That's the paid service. Routing rights holders to the main Booth Ready page is the cleanest path — they upload, get a quote, and Mike delivers a full per-chapter production package. Narrators who refer the work get credit on the project notes.
Does Mike narrate as well? Are you trying to take my gig?
No. Mike narrates his own slate (you can hear samples on the homepage) but does not audition against other narrators on titles brought through this offer. Booth Ready is a script-prep service. If you book the gig, the production is yours.
