## Formatting conventions (Main Street house style)

- **Body:** Georgia 18pt
- **Pronunciations:** Consolas italic 14pt, burgundy `#6B2C2C`
- Pronunciation appears **once per first occurrence per chapter**, narration only — **never inside dialogue**
- Each speaker's dialogue has a distinct pastel highlight fill so the booth narrator can see role changes at a glance

## Speaker registry (20 named voices)

(Full list with phonetic respellings in `pronunciation_guide.json`.)

## Production notes

- **Chapter 17:** Two lines from an unnamed Pontellier household maid ("Oh! you might get some of the glass in your feet, ma'am...") are left as narration with a brief voice shift, per house policy on incidental unnamed speakers. This is the only audit flag in the package and is intentional.
- **Chapter 39:** Ends at Kate Chopin's true closing line — "musky odor of pinks filled the air." Project Gutenberg's source file appends material from other Chopin works; that material has been correctly excluded.
- **All 39 chapters audited:** 38/39 [audit] OK + 39/39 [colors] OK on full rebuild.

## Spot-check result

The Awakening passed Booth Ready spot-check #7 — **ACCEPT** at standard quality tier. Production-ready.
